Successful GOAL Launch

The inaugural match in GOAL was the U12 game between Redditch United & Alvechurch Youth.

The fixture computer had thrown up a local derby and both teams had brought the match forward to midweek at Redditch United's Terrys Field.

The early exchanges were extremely even, with both teams eager to make a good start in the League. It was very good to see both teams looking to pass the ball and build play in different areas of the pitch.

Midway through the 1st half, an Alvechurch attack down the right flank saw a shot on goal that the Redditch goalkeeper did well to parry away, but the ball fell invitingly to another Alvechurch player who put the ball in the net to give his side the lead.

Redditch United's best chance came early in the 2nd half but the 'Church' defence managed to block the shot on goal.

The visitors looked to increase their lead but the Redditch defence stood firm and with some fantastic saves from the home goalkeeper throughout the match the game ended in a narrow 1-0 victory to Alvechurch Youth.

It was good to see such a large crowd in attendance and supporting each team in the correct manner.

The Coaching staff of both team's were exemplary and gave a great example of the Respect Codes of Conduct.
