ABOUT US

The organisation is the brainchild of Colin Mortiboys, who as founder, has led the project and take up the primary role of League Secretary.

Colin has felt that there is a growing demand for youth football to offer participation during the summer months.  The existing youth league's only operate during the 'winter' season between September - May but weather impacts greatly with the fixture schedules, with many teams going week's without playing any games whatsoever. This has a very negative effect on the players who look forward to a match & participating in fitness based activity, only to be disappointed when games are called off due to unfit pitches. Parents are also affected as many plan their weekend around a football match and then have this disrupted when games are postponed. In the last few years, there is evidence that some teams have not played a match in more than 6-8 weeks, so the retention of players is clearly at risk as children look at other activities to participate in. This in turn can have a knock-on effect to Clubs, who then struggle for players which can ultimately mean that teams have to fold, causing yet more 'open dates' to the existing teams.

Colin felt that summer football is the way forward and will offer greater opportunity & development for players, as well as helping the retention of players at their respective Club's.

We are confident that this new organisation will be successful in developing football within the local community.
